Objectives |
Participants will:
- Gain a basic understanding of the theory and research of motivational approaches
- Learn to conceptualize resistance from a Stages of Change model in order to increase motivation to change.
- Develop engagement skills used in motivational approaches.
- Improve their ability to develop effective treatment relationships by using motivational approaches with clients.
- Increase their understanding of the various patterns of change that occur in substance abusers.
- Apply motivational approaches in role plays and discussions
