Imagery is a transformative tool that can help us see things in a new way. The Devereux Center for Resilient Children (DCRC) often uses imagery to share valuable information about the science of resilience – the ability to “bounce back” from misfortune or change.
Picture this: Adults are like pitchers. When we take steps to prioritize our health, our pitchers are full. This means we have the ability to “pour” kindness and patience into others. Alternatively, if we do not take care of ourselves, our pitchers can become empty, and it is challenging to be the person we want to be for our family, friends and colleagues. For parents, we can take this imagery one step further. If parents are the pitchers, then children are the cups. When our pitchers are full, we are better prepared to fill our children with love, joy and confidence.

An article written by Devereux Executive Director of Autism Services Todd Harris, Ph.D., was recently featured in Autism Spectrum News. In the article – “What families with autism should consider when evaluating school programs” – Harris offers instructional and social considerations to help parents of children with autism make the right decision when searching for a school for their child.
For more than 10 years, Devereux Arizona therapeutic foster parents Keita and Jerry Willis have been providing a loving and nurturing home for youth in need. The couple began fostering at the encouragement of family members who also foster, and they have never looked back.
More than 200 golfers putt for a purpose at Devereux Pennsylvania's 37th annual Golf Classic. The event, held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, raised nearly $160,000 to support children, adolescents and adults served by the organization in southeastern Pennsylvania.
Among the New England Patriots and other sports memorabilia adorning the walls of Justin's room at a Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island group home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, are certificates and awards, commending him on various life achievements.
